Every morning we woke up and convened at the Bay Hotel, where Charlie and Caro were staying. It is a gorgeous waterfront hotel reminiscent of South Beach.
On this day, we were heading to Table Mountain. One of the self-proclaimed "Seven Wonders of the Natural World". (I'm not sure I really believe that...I suspect a bunch of foreign diplomats came together late night after a United Nations Assembly and over drinks decided to band together to create this grouping of 7 Wonders in order to boost tourism.)
This is what Table Mountain looks like from far across the sea. From below it you can't tell that it is totally flat up top. It's pretty incredible.
The gondola ride up is PRETTY awesome though. The floor of it rotates, so you get a 360-degree view on your ride up the mountain.
Breathtaking...
Once at the top of Table Mountain, they have a park you can walk around.
The cliffs are very steep. Though you CAN hike or climb the mountain if you choose.
We took some pics REALLY close to the edge...in areas where we weren't really supposed to go or climb.
And then pretended to climb it...
Table Mountain overlooks all of Cape Town and Camps Bay. It's frickin' awesome.
I climbed over the barrier to get this shot. It was a little scary...not gonna lie.
We took in the view and snapped photos for hours. It was a perfect day. Sometimes the top is covered clouds and visibility isn't so good.
Hallelujah!
After the mountain we headed down to the Waterfront to the best sushi restaurant ever with the most unlikely sushi restaurant name. Willoughby & Co.
On the menu they, and most other sushi places in South Africa, serve something called a "Fashion Sandwich". It's basically a sushi roll reconstituted to look like little bite-sized tea sandwich with rice on both sides as the "bread" and whatever fish you're getting in the middle.
We giggled and laughed over the previous night's ridiculous drunkery...
Curious to see what video they were watching?
Here it is. LOL.
LOVE my roommates! We had barely known each other before the trip, but Carrie matched us together knowing we would become besties.
Caroline's mommy showed up and joined us for a bit.
We dined on fabulously delicious sushi.
And fashion sandwich...
And then headed home to nap and prep for a fabulous evening - sunset cocktails at Caroline's old beach house followed by an epic meat dinner at Carne.
Stay tuned!
