If we were to compare Cape Town to LA, Bishops Court (where the botanical gardens are and Nelson Mandela's house is) would be like Beverly Hills, and Camps Bay (where we were staying) and its surrounding beach towns would be like Santa Monica and Malibu.
For Sundowners on Wednesday, after visiting table mountain and feasting on sushi, we headed over to Caroline's family's former beach house in Bantry Bay, now owned by a good family friend of theirs.
The house is named "Heart's Content"...
And it is FABULOUS.
And so big that I couldn't even take a full shot of it, even with a wide-angle lens.
Caroline's mum Sheila and her bestie hosted, walking around with delicious treats.
The home looks almost like a hotel.
We are so lucky to have had Caroline as our guide and hostess.
Carrie's former teacher came (she's the one in blue/green). And almost fell into the pool a split second after this photo was taken...
Everyone looked so fab in their sundowner shades.
And the sundown itself was spectacular...
At every sunset, we would try with all our might to see the "green flash". Supposedly at the second the sun goes down over the horizon, you're supposed to see a flash of green light.
We never did see it though...
Glen girls!!!
So purty!
From there we headed over to yet another top Cape Town restaurant - Carne.
What do they serve? MEEEEEAAAAT.
So much meat. All kinds. All red. The nice waiterman described each cut and preparation in great detail.
Here's a little look at the menu. MmMmMMmmmMM.... People were making weird groaning noises just reading the menu.
We started with an amazing meatball app...
Then had some melons and prosciutto...
An AMAZING seared steak tartare...
Mmmmm...it was so good.
This trio of steaks was a favorite.
Not sure what this was...a ribeye maybe?
It was like steakporn.
Haha. I also ordered the chicken. Because I looooves chicken. Or maybe it was game hen. I don't remember. It was goooood.
Also there were steak-filled raviolis.
Asian poses!
Food coma...
Afterwards we hit the bar to celebrate MikeGilbane's bday.
Mike and Bobby are cousins. They are adorbs.
MmmmMMm MMMMMMM child!!!
Up next I think I'm going to give you a break from South Africa and tell you about Arizona.
Yes I just got off the redeye from Phoenix literally minutes ago. It was awesome.
